valuation haircut
A risk control measure applied to securities used in reverse transactions, implying that the central bank calculates the market value of the underlying securities, reduced by a certain percentage (haircut). The Eurosystem applies valuation haircuts that also reflects certain characteristics of the securities, notably their residual maturity.
